Global Citizenship and Service
As part of the program’s focus on global citizenship, both within the curriculum and in a range of opportunities beyond the classroom.
Through a global lens, our students engage in Creative Arts alongside their studies in History, Geography and Christian Studies. Introduced in the Junior School, Chinese is taught by a specialised language teacher, enabling students to develop linguistic confidence and a deeper appreciation of culture. Together, these experiences encourage students to think beyond their immediate context, to understand diverse perspectives, and to grow in their awareness of themselves as thoughtful, informed and responsible global citizens.
With different year groups across the school, we discuss and explore key celebration and commemoration days to deepen our understanding of tradition, foster an awareness of historical and cultural significance, and cultivate an appreciation for contemporary issues, featuring events like ANZAC Day, Harmony Day, Wear It Purple Day, and many others.
Our younger students in the Junior and Middle school areas commit to a range of charities and service opportunities, often emerging from student interest and shared commitment. For students in Years 7–12, year-group Passion Projects provide meaningful service opportunities shaped by student interest and emerging community needs. Our students contribute to a range of organisations, including the Cancer Council Australia, Coast Shelter, and Samaritans (including support for the Op Shop and Christmas donation drives). Through these experiences, students discover the joy of serving others, not only within school-based activities and events, but also across the wider community.
Our older students have further opportunities for personal growth, leadership and global engagement. Our well-established The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award program is highly regarded and provides students with rich opportunities to develop resilience, skills, leadership capacity and a spirit of adventure. We also feature international experiences which extend horizons even further.
Our biennial tours to Vietnam and/or Cambodia have become a valued and formative part of our global program, and we are excited to introduce our first STEM tour to Japan, opening new pathways for innovation, cultural immersion and global collaboration.
